Grown-up - an adult, used especially when talking to children;

Complicated equipment - the set of necessary tools, clothing, etc. for a particular purpose involving a lot of different parts, in a way that is difficult to understand;

Trunks - very short pants, esp. worn by men for swimming;

Float - to stay on the surface of a liquid and not sink;

Ring - a circle of any material, or any group of things or people in a circular shape or arrangement;

Waterwings - hollow, ring-shaped pieces of plastic, filled with air, that people who cannot swim wear on their arms in water to help them float;

Stroke - (a particular movement that is usually repeated in) a method of swimming;

Crawl- a style of swimming in which you move your arms over your head and kick with straight legs;

Breast-stroke- a way of swimming in which the arms make a circular movement in front of the body while the knees are brought up towards the body and then kicked out and back;

Dive - to jump into water, especially with your head and arms going in first, or to move down under the water;
  
Wave - to raise your hand and move it from side to side as a way of greeting someone, telling someone to do something, or adding emphasis to an expression;

Experience - (the process of getting) knowledge or skill from doing, seeing, or feeling things;

Marvelous - extremely good.
 
Examples:

He spent the summer in swim trunks and Hawaiian shirts.

The game involved throwing metal rings over a stick.

What's your best stroke when you're swimming?

I can only do the breaststroke.
