Agatha Christie was an English writer of crime novels. He most well-known characters are Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. The Mousetrap, her most well-known play, holds the record for the longest run ever.

Agatha Christie was born in the south-west of England in \(1890\). She got home education and learned to play piano and the mandolin. Her first literary attempts were short stories and the first novel was entitled Snow Upon the Desert. However, it wasn't a detective yet. Her first crime novel was The Mysterious Affair at Styles and that's the book where Hercule Poirot appears for the first time.

True success came to her with the novel The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It's still one of the most acclaimed books of hers. In the same year Agatha Cristie mysteriously disappeared for \(11\) days. It's still unclear, whether it was an episode of amnesia or it was planned in order to draw attention to the writer.

Agatha Christie's novels are full of humor, irony, twisted plots and developed characters. One of the main themes is that of justice for the evil, who can't escape the consequences of their crimes. Her books are easy to read.
